Additional Information:

Freedom Commons is a 54-unit affordable and supportive apartment building near downtown Syracuse. The Syracuse Housing Authority is partnering with The Center for Community Alternatives to create a community designed to house and support people who were recently homeless and people who have been released from incarceration. The focus on strengthening community, together with the training and assistance programs provided by CCA, help to significantly reduce returns to homelessness and incarceration, and help residents achieve successful reintegration into society. The project also contains three shelter units with 11 beds for homeless men and women first entering CCA’s programs. The project includes a community event room, a computer technology and training center, a central dining area with training kitchen, and other amenities. The project will be funded by NY State Housing and Community Renewal and by NY State Homeless Housing Assistance Program.
